National Engineers Week: Get To Know Field Engineer Evan Wheeler.

February 21, 2022

Blattner Energy’s engineers spend time in the office, but many are out in the field on a daily basis.

Our engineers are part of a wide range of disciplines, from electrical civil and mechanical. Blattner is celebrating all our engineers as part of National Engineers Week, which runs from February 20-26, 2022.

Evan Wheeler, who has been with Blattner Energy since July 2021, is an electrical field engineer. The North Dakota State University and North Dakota State College of Science graduate knows that a lot of people – including his family and friends – don’t understand the importance of what he does.

“I wanted to have an understanding of the theoretical side of electricity to stack on practical knowledge I’ve gained over the years,” Wheeler said. “My job is a very universal position, but it’s not as one-dimensional as some would think.

“We play a critical role to confirm that procedures, methods and practices are being completed in a manner that makes sense both on paper and in the field.”

Wheeler enjoys being on job sites because of the comradery that is built between everyone. Even though he’s an engineer, he strives to build chemistry among his co-workers.

“That’s one thing I know how to do well,” Wheeler said. “I think that engineers, in general, are easy to get along with.”

Wheeler has come a long way since his college days in North Dakota. He credits his career trajectory on finding the right mentors.

“If you put in the effort, and get the guidance from the right people, along the way you will find that the work and the experience can be very rewarding,” Wheeler said.
